Interesting ww2 era statue

I picked this guy up from a private collection of military items. For several years now I haven't been able to find another one like him. Anyone have any information or opinions? He stands 20 inches tall and is made of some sort of a plaster or alabaster and has been painted to look like metal. One gentleman from England claimed to have another like him, but unfortunately it was destroyed while being moved. Interesting piece, any ideas or thoughts?
