I received this quilt from an elderly friend who had it in the attic for decades. I have no information as to age. Can you help? The materials appear to be silk, velvet and silk embroidery and the patches seem to be hand done. However, the back looks too even not to have been done by machine. Any thoughts?

It’s lovely. The initials may be the initials of the person who made it. My sister does quilting, and the stitches can be tiny! The work in this quilt is amazing, even if it’s machine sewn!
A great quilt, such a good mix of fabrics and well done embroidery. I cant tell from the photos if the quilting has been machine done but the skilled embroiderer who made this would have been capable of fine, consistent stitching.
