Here's something to bring the joy of springtime to one's heart at any time of the year - an art glass tulip ornament by Richardson's.
This one is extra special to me, as it has taken 10 years to find an example in this ruby & white colouration to replace one that was broken in the mail (it was packed in only a padded bag for its trip from New Zealand to Australia...needless to say it did not end well).
The tulip measures 16 cm tall, 3 cm across the petal shaped top rim, & 8 cm across the leaf shaped base.
It is composed of a uranium yellow stem & footed base, topped with a tulip made from two layers of cased glass - clear over ruby & opal white stripes. One upright leaf is missing from the base but I can live with it! :-)
Made by Richardson's of Stourbridge, circa 1894.
This one came from the USA, which is unusual, as mostly these are found in the UK, & occasionally Australia & New Zealand.

The Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts copper crumb tray has been polished up...all it needs is the matching brush...but persistence is often rewarded... :-)

When I think of all the traveling this has done, it's pretty amazing this has only lost one leaf.

I agree, artfoot...all the way from Stourbridge, England, to the USA, then to Australia...it's far more traveled than I am!

Thanks also, Newfld, I don't usually take photos of my glass outdoors, but it just seemed so right for this one!

Oohh, I'm quite envious. It's Absolutely gorgeous! I've never been particularly keen on flowers but I've just come back from a relative who lives to garden and had the most beautiful Tulips I've seen.

Many thanks, Vintagefran...this is as close as I can get to tulips in Sydney, it is too hot to grow real ones here. Was so pleased to get this one at last, & will have to take a photo of all 7 of my tulips together someday...
