I picked this up on ebay for .99 cent + shipping. It has an all metal case. A very utilitarian look to it. It is in great cosmetic shape, all it needs are a couple filter caps to get rid of the hum. The problem is i can't find anything about it.I hope one of you guys could help me out. All i have is the model # 495 and a GENERAL ELECTRIC cat. no. KTCU-R.

I'm being told this radio was offered as an accessory to a modern kitchen system offered by GE in the late 50s or early 60s. They were called cabinettes and the profile of the under cabinet storage units are the same profile as the radio. Also, like the radio the cabinet system was all metal. I'll post the website where i saw this later

here is the webpage about the ge cabinettes. http://retrorenovation.com/2011/03/20/vintage-ge-kitchen-cabinettes/. Although it seems plausible, I don't see any info on my radio.

hello radiojunky, it is true that the G.E. radio model 495 is to a kitchen appliance center, called by ge the "kitchen of the future". I know this because the home i live in still has this kitchen intact and there is a receptacle just for that radio. have a nice day.
