    We have a real exciting mystery here! We spotted this at an estate sale and thought it might be something very interesting. There are several makers marks of a Shield that features the date 1708, and shield within the shield with the initials "C G K". The lid carries the only different mark which appears to be an Angel carrying a banner inside a oval. From what I found so far, I beleive this to be German, from the early 1800's, and that the artist may be Carl Gottlieb Knoth. So far, I have only seen pieces by him in Museum collections.

    Can anyone offer some more info?
