New still in its original box . Believe it was use by the goverment for the testing for radioactivity. Hope I never see this thing used . I remember in school practicing sheltering in a the basement of the school . They told us the walls where made out of lead ?

VERY COOL that you appear to have the whole 'set'-- I've got a similar meter around here someplace too. I believe (as indicated by the CD logo label) these were equipment provided to gov't approved "Civil Defense fallout shelters" (often located in schools and other public buildings, as you recall) back in the 1950's-60's, in the era of "duck and cover". (like that plan would truly protect anybody at all from a nuclear bomb blast/fallout...*really*...?? <sigh>)

I sure remember those days! We all would file out of the class room into the hall and stand with our face against the lockers and our arms and hands around our head like that was going to save us from an A-Bomb.........
