This was the first "anything in the basket for 2 bucks" thing at the rummage sale, grabbed without hesitation from the closest table right after the nice volunteer lady gave me said basket. ;-) Nothing so cute (and *red*!) deserves to be a 'leftover' now, does it...?? :-) :-)
Its an obviously rather well used syrup dispenser jar, its screw-on top (probably an old plastic, I don't think its bakelite?) has a stainless (?) sliding/sprung cover. (it inexplicably came with a 2nd one of those pieces inside it??) The lid assembly is marked as being made by "FEDERAL TOOL CORP. CHICAGO ILL.", also with a patent # 2,276,917 and the notation to "DO NOT BOIL USE WARM WATER FOR CLEANING" on its in/underside.
The glass jar is marked "ANDROCK MADE IN U.S.A." with the numbers "5" and "9-344" molded into its bottom. Perhaps interestingly, I've found pics of lots more dispenser tops just like this one -- though not a single one attached to a bottle of the same roughly conical shape. For what its worth, I'll take that as a suggestion that maybe the bottle is a newer 'replacement' for the jar which might have first came attached to this lid. The whole thing is roughly 5-1/2" tall overall, and the jar is about 3-3/4" at its widest.
