We cleared our loft and found this. Can see the lock of Cramford Conn Yale and Towne lock.puzzled as to who made the trunk, can't work out the company name if anyone knows.smells like old heritage houses and I love that! So pleased to have found this. One leather strap broken but think may fix up beautifully. Anyone with any info on it, it would be gratefully accepted.

Around 1890's give or take a bit, and that would be Stamford Connecticut, this is a true steamer trunk, most people call all trunks," steamer trunks" not so, steamer trunks were a specific size and shape, flat rectangular and usually no taller than 14 inches, designed specifically for the small state rooms on steamer ships, hence the name steamer trunk, all other trunks, round top or flat are referred to as travel trunks. Without a makers label hard to say who made it, the stenciling on the outer trunk is probably someone's name or Initials, greendog.
