Hello everyone!!
I won this in an online auction a couple of weeks ago. It's a vintage bronze rabbit match holder. I'm told this is from the late 1800's, but not completely sure of that, though I know match holders were quite common in that period of time. You would have used the side of his basket as the striking point for the matches. It only measures 5 1/4" tall, is nicely detailed and has a wonderful patina.. There are no markings on this to indicate the maker. So, I do not know who the maker of this little match holder was. I ended up getting this for $15, but I've seen them sell for $$$.
Thanks to all for stopping in for a look!!

I love this! I can see it with a bunch of wild flowers in the basket!
What a great idea, a bunny with basket match holder - and he's really cute too! Great price for something so rare. From a smoking family (which is one reason I never tried it) I am just curious, will a match light when struck on bronze, or is there carbon or other striking surface somewhere?
Thanks Laura!! He'd look great with a tiny bouquet of flower, perhaps violets. But, he might be a bit small for flowers. He might make a good toothpick holder as well.
Thanks Jenni!!
Growing up in tobacco and bourbon country, quite a few of my family members used to smoke. But, no one smokes now. I really couldn't truthfully answer your question in regards to striking matches on bronze. Most of these, that I've ever seen, were used for decorative purposes, rather than match holders.

Scotty I'm actually fixing the seat twist in my front seats. Common problems for the model. Interior is almost completely out as well. Everything works no rust but the Interior is breaking down. Need to find a donnor car.
Hopefully, you'll find a everything you need to get your interior back in good shape again Roy.
