Previously posted in unrestored condition. This is the result, took a little over a week. The case has 150 coats of golden shellac. The movement is serviced and oiled. I did not replace the veneer on the art deco strips, preferring the contrast of french polished Maple against the dark hue of the case. Kept the original dial and bezel, though damaged by age, there is no point to a vintage/antique clock that looks like it was built yesterday. Some wood defects are visible, that is also left by design. Melodious chimes and an excellent quality movement with no wear, most unusual. Thanks for looking.
Your restorations are wonderful!:-)
Thank you, always love compliments :) This one did come up nicely, I am happy to have such fine material to work with :)
Wow, it really turned out nicely!! Outstanding restoration!!!
Thank you, appreciated
Very nice restoration.
Thank you very much
A week? Wow, that's a full year job for me.
So well done; it is very handsome.
Once I start, I don't seem able to stop. 9 days in total. Thanks, I took a gamble on the deco base by not re veneering it, which works I think. Was a well made clock to begin with and that's half the battle done.
Wow! Gorgeous!!!!
Thanks Bryan
