This WW2 Japanese canteen was captured in Luzon (Phillipines) probably during 1945.

The canteen's green paint was stripped off years ago.

The front of the canteen has been adorned with a native house and "LUZON". The back is engraved with "Lillian, Raymond, Barbara" within a heart.

The canteen retains the original cork stopper and has maker marks on the bottom.

Wow.. I ran across this website by chance when researching something left to me by my Father. He was in WWII South Pacific.

I feel these items like this are priceless and should be treated as such. i have this bracelet my Dad left me.

He was a young man sent to South Pacific. It was pretty nasty while he was there BUT he had it far better than many. He was very humble and asked for no credit. Later he returned to his small farming community after a non combat injury at Solomon Islands. He was in Army hospital when war ended.

Later in life he was our local Baptist minister. He never spoke directly about what happened to him in war but did have many stories to tell.

I remember one story was about how these men would run out under fire when a zero was downed to fight over metal on wings. This metal was highly sought to make trench art that was later sold.

I could hear in his voice how he was shocked when men ran out under fire so they could be first to get this material.

They made bracelets in his company, Engraved, MOTHER ---- South Pacific WWII etc my Dad bought one and shipped to his Mother in Ohio as a gift.

Dad is long gone and I am getting older with no kids. I am trying to find a reputable museum that collects these things.

I think from where it came, by whom and where made it is a priceless piece of American history.

God Bless us all and God bless the United States of America!
