      I believe these were and still are hand made for the tourist trade in Southern Asia. Could be 100 years old or 30 or 10 it is hard to say.

      The blade does look like a SE Asian kris but the handle is all wrong. The animal "guard", horn grip with an eagle(? - your pics are fuzzy), and the head-like pommel look Mexican. Go to Google Translate and plug in the wording etched on the blade. Not only will it decipher the language but you'll have a translation. It probably says "souvenir of somewhere" or "may my wound be fatal" or other macho nonsense.

      Thanks for the info. Translation is close ... “you don’t want this” and “I am what I am” .. regardless it sounds like an enexpensuve souvenir .
