Midori was a range of glass designed by Hisatoshi Iwata, c1980. Some of this range became an Iwata Studio line, although I believe this piece to be an artist's work.
Midori means green (or greenery) in Japanese and Iwata used this green decor on a number of different shaped vessels.
This flask shaped vase is typical of Midori, with a quite simple shape to highlight the decor. The underlying glass is a light green with very fine spatter of a beautiful turquoise and mid blue heavily applied. As was the fashion with Iwata during this period, gold foil squares have been applied on the front of the vase.
It's a quite organic style of glass; very restful.

You are so right Ken, bursting, and so some ends up in boxes and then I can't appreciate the beauty. A tragedy of my own making.
Thanks for loving this one, which is currently unboxed :)

Wow, you have lots of cool and interesting glass. Do you display them altogether?

I do have lots MrsT, lots in boxes, and about a third on display at the moment.
I do try and change them around but the number is now overwhelming. I am a glass collecting addict, and I need intervention. There: said it! lol.

Hi Karen. Another stunning Japanese vase. You've opened my eyes to a new world of glass and broadened my appreciation of it with your posts. Ty
