    Hi Friends in Show and Tell,
    Although I know a little about antiques, I'm just starting to restore. Can anyone tell me what used to be in this chair's space and how I would go about restoring it.

      It appears it would have had caning , You can learn how to cane or pay someone to do it . Would have helped to see whole chair to be sure .

      On 2nd look not sure about caning because of nail holes . Photo whole chair so we can see the style ok

      Perhaps an embossed leather panel.
