Hey all! Check out this piece I stumbled upon in the attic of my childhood home. If anone out here can help me better identify it I would be appreciative...

I believe it is a bell switch from a Bronx apartment building, but i may be wrong. It is a brass plate that measures 4 inches by 1 3/4 inches. What looks like mother of pearl buttons that act as a momentary spring loaded switch to connect 2 conta ts on the wooded base. Most likely low voltage given the wood construction.

From 1953 to 1955 my grandfather built a home on Long Island to move his wife and 4 boys to. During the construction, they lived in the Bronx, and commuted a few days a week to the construction site to work on it.

The home is almost entirely constructed of reclaimed lumber , steel and brick that dated as far back as the late 1800's. It was the only home on a mile long dirt road. Now its one of 98 acording to my count on google satellite images.

My father, the youngest of the 4 boys, was 10 years old when they broke ground, and still lives there to this day with my mom 62 years later.

My grandfather worked for General Electric as a traveling sales representative, so it is to understand the the homes electrical was state of the art of the era. All of the lighting fixtures and some outlets are based on a 12 volt relay system.

I travel to Long Island every few weeks to visit, and lately have been spending time with my father in the attic going through grandad's accumulated stuff - old clocks, fixtures, electrical components, etc...

This all said, if any one out there has any insight to any of the finds posted here please share...

    THANKS!!!
