This one is out of my Bailiwick and I need some details. This is a Japanese Tin Toy Airplane, pre-WW2. The first three pictures show the toy that I have (silver w/ red keel) and the last shot of another similar unit (gold w/ red keel). It is obvious that the toy I have is missing a clockwork mechanism. The prop assemblies have a rack and pinion affair so that the clockwork would "rotate" the propellers. The fit and finish are excellent as is the realistic, scale appearance. This could easily pass as a model when new. It is currently displayed this way using a vintage cast iron base with a new mount that features rare earth magnets to keep the toy secure in a position.

    Wingspan is approximately 10"

Questions- 1) what company produced this toy ?
    2) what other functions were driven by the clockwork?

    Many Thanks, Tom (SANDMAN OVERHAUL)
