This piece was part of a lot I bought at an auction. It's made by Meriden Britannia Company which was in business from the mid 1880's until around the mid to late 1890's. It was one of the many companies that made up International Silver Company. I've not been able to identify this piece. I found a book on Meriden with pictures of their items, but this piece wasn't listed. The number 2 is stamped under the company stamp, but other than that, there are no other markings. it stands at about 12" and the base is about 6 1/2 " across. There are 12 holders on each tier, and it has a ring on the top. According to the marking it's white metal, if there was a star between the scale it would be nickle silver. I'm curious to know what this unique piece is.
I have seen pieces similar to this, but no where near as elaborate. I believe this to be a stamp holder.
Thank you Ben! I never would have guessed that. Now I can move on to something else than searching for hours trying to figure out what I had. I really appreciate the help.
