Another bear from Sofia Batalova made his way across the ocean to Hyde Park, New York, where he sat in a glass case at the local consignment shop until I spotted him yesterday. There were other beautiful/handsome bears, but Seryozha was the one who tugged at my heartstrings. I've named him after Anna's son in Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, one of my favorite novels.
Seryozha takes his tea twice a day- in the morning and late afternoon- and enjoys relaxing by the window when it's too inclement to venture outside.
Hope you enjoy meeting Seryozha!
~Laura
Oh Laura, Seryozha is incredibly cute! He found the BEST home to be in. What a lucky little bear his is.
What a cuddly beauty Laura! Love how you posed him with arms up & with the tea set. Seryozha, an affectionate nickname for Sergei, right. I also loved the book Anna Karenina, and thought the filmed version with Vivien Leigh was beautiful, what costumes! We had something on TV years ago called the million dollar movie, they would run a film several times a day all week, when I was a teenager it would infuriate my mom when I would watch stories like this one about an adulterous woman - another favorite was Madame Bogart w/ Jennifer Jones - so of course I would spitefully watch this type all week lol!
That's Mme Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, not Bogart, this droid!
Thanks so much for the love, aura, Eileen, Scott, Jenni, TimeTraveller, and Manikin!
Scott, thank you for the very kind comment. He feels right at home with the rest of the bears! Always room for one more!
Jenni, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I've not seen the film with Vivian Leigh but would love to do so as well as the newer version with Keira Knightley as Anna. And I too love Madame Bovary!
Eileen, thank you. I am so happy you like my new bear and the tea set, too. It has some chips, but this makes it even more charming to me.
Thank you so much for the kind comment and love, Ken! Much appreciated! Thank you for the love, Roy and Adele!
Thanks so much for the nice comment and love, T. Thank you for the love,
fortapache.
I know why you brought him home and the adoption went well !
Thank you so much for the love, Judy, Michael, Pascale, and Phil! Right, Phil? Who could resist that face??? I think he's very happy here.
I love Sofia's creatures, they all look so adorable and i was even tempted to buy one or two, but they are out of my price range at this point. Seryozha is such a cute guy with a perfect name. Speaking of names, I named my teddy Pushkin. I just thought he looks like him a bit LOL Did you read anything by Bulgakov? Master and Margarita is one of my favorites.
Hi Anna! Hope you're well. We had a smattering of snow this morning upon waking. :( I want sunshine and warm temperatures.
I am so glad you like Seryozha. I love your teddy's name. If you love Pushkin, check out Novels, Tales, Journeys: The Complete Prose of Alexander Pushkin (translated by Pevear and Volokhonsky.)
I love The Master and Margarita, especially the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation. They're pretty much my go to translators for Russian literature. I have the Ginsburg translation, and it pales in comparison (but the cover art is great!)
Thank you for the love, Anna, Sean and buckethead!
Laura, i wish i had any time for reading. So many things, so little time. I'm glad i had a chance to read a lot until my early 30s. Next time i'll pick up a book will be probably when I retire =(
Well, sometimes I only get to read before bed, which is sort of a ritual for me and my husband. Even after the longest of days, we'll read. Sometimes it's only for five minutes before my eyes close!
What a cute little bear!
Thank you so much, Mrstyndall.
