This is a Union Bible Dictionary published by the American Sunday-School Union in 1837.
First Edition, published in 1837. A New Edition - Improved & Enlarged, with Entirely New Engravings, was published in 1855.
At some point in this books lifetime, someone took upon themselves to date this book by writing 1852 & 1851 on the title page, which I'm sure was based on the handwritten inscription in the front of this book, which was also incorrectly copied from the faint original inscription.
The original inscription reads:
Marie E. Preston
Presented by the
American S. S. Union
Hartford, Ct. Apr. 9, 1852
Thanks for reading my post,

I've been a Christian all my life and a bible dictionary is something I've never heard of or even knew existed until now. That's really something Dave!
jscott0363, I have several Bible dictionaries, and use them quite often to try to understand some of the words used, especially in the King James version of the Bible. The newest one I have (not really new), is The New Combined Bible Dictionary And Concordance, published by Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1965. I am from a line of Ministers, although I did not follow in that calling, I did follow & continue in my Christian faith.

My dad is a pastor & he has several Bible dictionaries in his library. None quite as neat as this one though! You’re right about trying to understand what some of the words mean though!
rednoel94, my grandfather, father and others in family were ministers, and I have hundreds of the books they had in their libraries. I enjoy going through some of their bibles and reading their sermon notes they have in them.
Thanks for the comments & appreciation.
