Detex Guardsman Watchclock System
The Guardsman provides unique, unbroken, mechanical supervision of your guards on weekends, during holidays and extended plant closings, as well as on week nights
Unlike most other watchclocks, the Guardsman operates on a continuous roll of tape This records your guard's activities for up to 120 hours, if need be, without changing the tape Good practice forbids the guard from changing the tape himself Insurance regulations prohibit it Thus, a firm using a watchclock system of lesser recording capacity must have a supervisor return to the plant to change the recording dial every 24 hours For this, the supervisor often must be paid at overtime rates The Guardsman's extra capacity eliminates this problem
The system is simple, reliable and inexpensive It can be installed by one man using simple tools - a drill and a screwdriver A watchclock system often actually pays for itself in a short time through reduced insurance premiums.
How the Guardsman System Keeps Your Guard Up
The guard carrying the Guardsman visits a series of stations in a predetermined order At each one, he inserts a recording key This registers the station number on the paper time-tape in the clock When a supervisor checks the tape, he can tell at a glance how faithfully the guard performed his duties The record is unalterable, tamperproof, and alibi-proof The supervisor can be sure that the guard inspected the areas assigned to him And, as with all Detex Watchclocks, the guard appreciates that his reliability is a matter of undisputed record.
Detex Guardsman Watchclock System
The Guardsman is the only tape clock to provide an embossed record made directly from raised numerals on the recording key It employs no ribbons, carbons or inking devices
Each of the 24 hours of every day has a ruled space on the tape Since the tape is synchronized with the clock mechanism, each time a station is registered, its embossed record follows the previous registration Any omission by the guard shows up as a prominent white space on the tape
As on all Detex models, detector marks in the tape show the time the clock was opened or closed
To extract the daily - or weekend - record, simply push the tape cutter "Click" - you have in your hand a strip of tape which shows instantly where your guard was throughout his tour of duty
The Guardsman contains a highly accurate 8-day/shock resistant movement (especially designed for watchclock use) with an 11-jeweled escapement for dependable timekeeping It requires but one winding a week It is built ruggedly to withstand hard use Its durable die-cast aluminum case is protected by a riveted, reinforced carrying pouch which is equipped with a protective shutter covering the key house The glass is heat-treated to prevent tarnish and discoloration It resists breakage Capacity - 1 to 40 stations
Recording keys are placed at strategic spots throughout the property, housed in metal stations A selection of these stations is available from Detex They vary from deluxe models - for use where a dignified appearance is desirable - to sturdy, utilitarian types Lock covers are available
Factory regional offices in New Braunfels, TX, New York, NY, and sales and service offices operated under our supervision by authorized distributors in major cities, assure Detex users prompt and convenient service everywhere Emergency loan equipment is always available at service offices
Don't risk the "human equation" during the most vulnerable time of the week - Friday night to Monday morning - and during all extended holiday and inventory shut-downs When guards are supervised by the Guardsman, they resist the temptation to sleep, shirk or skip rounds The danger of fire, burglary and vandalism is reduced significantly

Dave
nutsabotas6, from what I have read, the Detex Guardsman was introduced in 1947. I'm not sure of the manufacture date of this one. I had an uncle who carried one of these back in the 60's-70's.
