Determined to restore him in its original function, I ordered vacuum accessories cheap, only to get the natural horse hair with convenient length.
Took apart the hairy rings, reduced the mounting depth and cut them to adjust to the shell with my Dremel.
Bostic tacks holds firmly in place the pieces.
Happily the 2 accessories were just enough for filling the shell gap...
Second pic is the result before he got his hairdo, lol!
I trimmed the new brush to give it the appropriate convex shape, pic in updated previous post :-)
He is such a beautiful turtle, it's so great how you can restore him Pascale, kudos to your talent
Thanks Jenni! There he has a Punk hairdo, fairly improved by the trimming as shown in previous post ;-)

Great job, I picked up one just like it for my granddaughter but it did not have a brush, I think someone made it into a pin cushion holder. They are really cute.
Thank you Dlpetersen for letting me know you got a similar (I'd love to see it in a post!). And thanks for your kind comment :-)
Before getting the bristles for the kyratisation, I turned it in a pin cushion too!

Yellow jackets though having real concerns are for now a great problem for many little commercial structures and firms who can't absorb the financial loss... not to talk about the insurrectionals elements who are surely manipulated by a foreign country to lead to a big chaos in our democracy...
I will try to remember to get a picture of it, she is at college at the University of Michigan and only see her a couple times a year now. Any turtle related items I send her, she even has a pet turtle she named Carl.
