I've inherited some furniture and become very interested in the detective work of trying to figure out when a piece was made. I've looked through this site and a couple of others, but I haven't seen anything that looks quite like this vanity/dresser. Would love to get some feedback as a source to expand my research on this! Maybe someone could give me some clues as to how I would begin to date this? It's got dovetailed drawers. I tried looking for similar mirror shapes and knobs but didn't find anything yet. Someone in our family bought this sometime in the mid-70s to 1980 and I believe they refinished it. As I understand it, that means it will be very difficult to identify the wood? Any guesses based on the grain (visible in the photo of the drawer interior). Any help will be greatly appreciated!
ps - sorry about the sideways photo. For some reason it only appears that way on this website and there's no way to edit it here.
Hi, and welcome to CW!
Here's some help in how to edit your photos making them right-side-up:

Also find out how to edit your original post so you can add another picture. A photograph of the out side of a drawer would be good to have. Not sure that the mirror is original to the piece - the design is quite different. Is the small decoration on the mirror hand painted, or is it a label. Has someone tried to remove it? (If it is a label).
So hard to tell from photos. Cannot see for sure if the mirror is original to the dresser. The bottom looks like a style they were doing in the late 30's/early 40s and the base into the earlier 50's but better to look if there were more holes added to the mirror join at the top back of bottom piece. If more holes it may have been added later. Best to check your - wait I don't know where you are from so I cannot give any tips.
Overall looks earlier 40's but too hard to tell from photos which are small and not too good !~
Try posting pics from a real desk computer. I have never had a problem there.
