This is a Japanese Emperor and Empress Temple/Shrine display. This was made by my uncle who owned a store selling similar displays. This was given to me for "Girls Day", or Hinanatsuri which is celebrated on March 3rd in Japan. The dolls here are Hina-Ningyo and represent a traditional court dress of the Heian period.
Beautiful display you have here. So amazing looking!
Your uncle is very talented, and I think you are very fortunate! It's such a wonderful display; their clothes are gorgeous.
