BelleEpoque
(98 items)
Over the years since I started collecting, Liberty pieces have gotten more and more scarce and expensive. So I was delighted to secure this simple but pretty litte necklace in typical Liberty style wth floral motif, mop and turquoise. It's stamped 925 WHH. The design may be by Jessie King, as I have seen similar ones atributed to her.
Lovely necklace by William Hair Haseler, he did design for Liberty & Co.
Oops I see you put William H Haseler in your heading.
Thanks, Jean :) WHH was the silversmith, and he executed pieces for Liberty designers, like Archibald Knox and Jessie King, who often remained uncredited. I wonder who made this one.
Sweet piece, and neat design, BelleEpoque!
Very difficult to get such at decent price...
Hi BellaEpoque, I would say he’s also the maker, I have seen very similar necklaces made by him.
WHH was a firm, primarily made for Liberty but also sold wholesale to Connels and other retailers. I'm not aware that this design is attributed to any specific designer. The problem is that the archives of the Silver Studios (who sold the designs to Liberty) was destroyed by fire.
Lovely piece BTW.
Spectacular design!
Interesting Jewels1900, thanks for the information.
No worries Jean.
Hi everyone, I found this more sophisticated version of my necklace posted by the Harrogate Museum in the UK, enjoy! https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/533043305869004323/
@Jewels: I read the article you posted on Jean's Haseler pendant. So interesting, thanks for the link. It clarified to me the role of Haseler in producing jewellery for Liberty. It is possible then, that the designer of this and other WHH pieces was Oliver Baker!
