Henri Louis Matile is noted as a Swiss Watchmaker that exhibited precision watches at the Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia in 1876, winning prizes at Neuchatel in 1877 and 1880-1882.
I'm thinking someone, at a later date, customized this watch (watch case) to a car clock, with a bracket attached to the back cover so it could be attached above the front window on the frame. If it was actually designed by Matile, it would have been late in his career.
The watch is a stem wind and lever set movement.

    Thanks for stopping by,
    Dave
