Hi CW Gang:
Vintage Compact Canister Vacuum Cleaner, Made in Canada with its Atomic streamlined shape. It is a turquoise blue color, and you will notice on the one side it has some Flowers on it - from the flower Power days. Still in working order. These things are TOUGH!! They can take a beating getting banged around and still work. Notice the handle on the Vacuum cleaner, as it is (was) clear at one time, with sparkles in it. The handle here has started to yellow over the years. Still super shape. **Tri-State and Compact are the same, but I think the name compact was used more in Canada.
Interesting thing about these I found was:
""The Compact vacuums were originally made by the Interstate Engineering Corporation to clean Howard Hughes Corporation aircraft in the 1940's. The first Compact had two rear wheels and two front skids. It had a hose with several attachments so that custodians could easily clean under the seats and the overhead compartments. It was very likely women employees who cleaned the aircraft because Howard Hughes' Corporation employed many of the "Rosie The Riveters" that you've probably heard about working to support World War II.""
Thanks for LOOKING // LOVING !!

In the 1980's or so, I (rather unsuccessfully) worked for an outfit which sold Tri Star Vacuums, by means of "in-home free demonstrations". <groan> The COMPACT name was the first given to the machines (ca. 1940's - 60's or so) with the TRI-STAR name replacing it by the 1970's or so (IIRC) at least in the USA...your machine almost seems to suggest the COMPACT name held on a little longer in Canada. (?) Do you know how old yours is?
The original COMPACTS were indeed painted turquoise green for at least a couple decades but have also come in yellow/gold, maroon, and a few varieties of gray/silver in more recent years. I have two different gray ones myself -- and they are indeed AWESOME vacuum cleaners!!
Thanks for the ~ LOVES ~

...@nutsabotas6 - Thanks for the wonderful comment. Glad this brought a memory back to you!! These vacuums were so tuff. If I stumbled upon another one, I would SNAP it up asap !!
I still use mine everyday ! Compact Electra interstate engendering model c9 i have one and its my daily driver ! Built to last sold door to door . Made in the 40s to clean the TWA airplane of the day they were sold door to door now called tristar vacuum still sold door to door .
Do ua still have this blue compact c9?I have one my self. Work horse for sure for parts tristarparts.com or ebay or ez vacuum.
tristar replace the compact name in 1982 with the red c80 cxl 2 speed red .
My parents bought a Compact (TriStar) vacuum cleaner in the 1980s. Its a red 2-speed unit & came with all accessories, including the optional aluminum rug tool (straight suction)
I still have the red TriStar vacuum; altho I bought a new TriStar CS canister
& acquired a few old Compact vacuum cleaners over the yrs (missing accessories; but I bought genuine TriStar tools online even tho they're not 'period correct' color). The Compact C6 came with turquoise colored dusting brush, crevice tool, upholstery nozzle & removable grille (snaps onto upholstery tool for vacing curtains & remove for vacing upholstery) 'hair comb' tool & demothing tool (moth control)
The Compact had aluminum floor brush & rug tool from the beginning until the TriStar EX-20. In 1999 Aerus/Electrolux acquired TriStar & the A101 (EXL, MG1, MG2, MG3 & CS) have Electrolux Epic 6500 hose handle, wands, tools (but has seperate dusting brush & upholstery tool instead of the 2-1 'combo tool' Electrolux uses) & power nozzle (TriStar has aluminum housing & no headlight; & Electrolux has plastic housing & may or may not have headlight
The old Compact C6 I got from a garage sale had the old fiberglass (U must replace bcuz old fiberglass is toxic since it deteriorated over time) motor filter, so I had to replace with a HEPA motor filter
man this takes me back to the old days my grand mother may she rip had the exact same one witch is why i have my own c8 compact now .
