Georges Briard Set of Boxed Fluted Coasters - Some kind of plastic?

i'm not sure what this kind of plastic is called, but it's pretty interesting. The photos came out very greenish, when it's actually black and gold - sort of an oil-spot design. Signed Georges Briard.
