I get mixed feelings when I look at these photos.
In three ..maybe four is different stages in a young lady's life.
She is standing as a child with her sister, her wedding night as a very young bride, then later in life She is captured once again with her sister as two grown women of the world.
In all of these photos the people pictured are in the prime of their lives....but I wonder about where the story took them. I question if they are remembered by anyone besides this stranger, me, almost 150 years later. I treasure them all and get sad a little...then feel so grateful to have this little piece of time in front of me. A tidbit to me...was a whole life to them.
Great photos!!!! After studying the photos, I can see that it certainly is the different stages of this woman's life.
I collect vintage photos for the same reasons you do probably...i rescue "faces" and places of the far distant past and give them some rapt attention, thinking about what kind of life they had, iIeem to pick up a few impressions along the way. Yes, I am a bit of a romantic. I guess
Yes..time is captured for a small moment in these photos...I too wonder of their lives in that exact moment and how normal the surroundings are to them. All of us here as antique collectors long for those little "normal" things of yesterday. Somehow these little glimpse of furniture, clothes, art, photos, etc...make what is lost alive again. It definitely is a romantic entanglement of today and long ago.
Thanks for sharing.
