Hello friends!
I was in the right place at the right time when I got this one. It's a Franz Bergman bronze Orientalist praying on a rug. This one is my crown jewel of Vienna bronze pieces. Check out the impressive detailing. His facial details, his hands, feet, shoes, walking stick and the colorfully painted rug. This one was cast around 1900, possibly earlier. It was cast in a couple of different sizes, a small and a large. This one is the larger size and measures 5 1/4" tall, 4" wide and 5 5/8" long. And, as you can see in pic #4, it is signed with the famous Bergman "B" in an urn. Though it has a bit of paint loss, it really doesn't take away from it's value. I was extremely lucky and won this in an auction for less than $150. The link below shows where an identical Bergman bronze sold.

This one was extremely dirty when I got it. I cleaned it, but please forgive the dirt that I missed. Didn't notice it until I carefully looked at the photos. I've since finished cleaning this fine piece and keep it in my display cabinet to protect it.
Thank you all very much for stopping in for a look!

Gorgeous bronze praying man, wonderful condition for age, that carpet is so beautifully designed
Thanks Jenni!! All of Bergman's bronze pieces were all so incredibly detailed and colorfully painted. He is best noted for those particular areas.

Thanks Fran!! The Franz Bergman Orientalists pieces are all just incredible. You should see the ones on camels. They're just phenomenal (and far out of my price range as well).

Wow Scott, it is hard to believe this is made from bronze. The detail is such that it seems these must be from porcelain. Just amazing. The moulding and painting are exceptional. Congratulations!
Thank you Karen!! I love anything cast in the Bergman foundry and I've always wanted a Bergman orientalist, but they're all far out of my price range. So, I was extremely lucky to land this one for such a low price.

Hi, I believe I have a Franz Bergman Bronze Lamp with Camel Bedouin Praying on a Carpet (from my Grandmother). I am wondering if anyone can tell me how I find out the difference in the Palm Tree leaves. The only one I have found online have different palm tree leaves than mine. My apologies if this is the wrong spot to ask this question... any direction is appreciated. I will be looking to value it, but just starting with this one question for people that have an interested in Franz Bergman Bronzes.
Hi Kierdy!
You can go to your local public library and have a look at the Schiffer book of "Antique Vienna Bronzes". I believe the piece you have is shown on page 206 of that book. It's a very detailed book and, in my opinion, the only book to have for referencing Antique Vienna Bronzes. Wish I could be of more help, but I think the Schiffer book will have your answer. Good luck!
Scott
Hi Scott, thank you so much for the response. A great place to start as I am not familiar with any of this information. I will be seeing about the Schaffer book, ASAP! Thank you again.
You are most welcome Kierdy!!

I have 2 Bergman cold painted bronze, cats on a chair scared of a mouse and boxer dogs playing billiards
Hi Pete,
I'd love to see those. I have several and I really love all of the Bergman pieces. But, I have been slowly depleting my collection of those pieces. I've already sold 3 of those pieces this calendar year with this being one of the pieces I've sold.
these are on my bucket list too!
