A quick whip around of some recent finds!
1. A marked Mexican silver and abalone shell dragonfly; an attractive fly with a faux fire opal thorax and garnet glass head; and a nice blue spider on a golden web. I think the two brassy ones are possibly Czech in origin. No marks on them.
2. All unmarked (that I bothered to see). A pewter leaf; a nicely layered golden wire spray; a faux pearl inside a textured boomerang on a wire crescent thingy.
3&4. An unmarked set, well soldered. The centres appear to be plastic and are greener in real life than the photos show. The brooch is less green than the earrings. Surrounded by ABs and a bit of black enamel thrown in. I have no idea of age, but am thinking 50s.
Any info from the enlightened and informed will be gladly received!
They're all GREAT Karen!! But, the insects, in pic #1, are just outstanding!!!
Thanks Ken, and so quick off the mark are you boys!
I really like the pearl brooch too, it's such a great shape.
Speedy Scott! I love an insect brooch too :))
Thanks!
I especially like the bugs-so cute!
These a are all wonderful Karen ...I'm with Ken I love the dragonfly and the other insects as well. Even the creepiest crawly becomes a work of art in jewelry. :)
Great find, love the dragonfly :-)
Bzz BZZ!!!!
Lovely finds, Karen!
Of course I'm partial for the insects...;-)
Ooh Karen these are all gorgeous and very original, love them - the abalone dragonfly is a pearly beauty, the pretty spider in web so creative, the leaves all flowing, and I agree the lovely rhinestone-framed circle set is probably 50s & a true antique - well done!
What a glorious find, these beauties need to be kept as they are, priceless !!~
Each Picture has Beautiful pieces - Very Nice grouping, and pics
Thanks MrsT , Mike, Mani and Pascale. It seems the bugs are a hit!
Thanks Jenni, glad you found some to love, and thanks also for the date on the set!
Maybe I'm getting better at judging stuff :)
Phil, I will wear some but the rest will go in the big jewellery box, with friends.
Thanks for the love and comment.
Most are from op shops Eileen, but it's a few months of collecting here so it's not like there is lots around. The two brass insects were from a collectibles market, so were not cheap cheap, but I love a bug so didn't mind the extra.
Glad you found some to love. Thanks!!
See above Val. Costume jewellery here is not common really, so it takes some searching, and we rarely have the range you guys have access to, even on auction sites.I was lucky to find the silver dragonfly for a good price, usually the op shops put lots of zeros on anything marked!
Thanks Rose. It's a bit of fun doing these posts!
Beautiful, unique pieces! I really like the dragonfly and the three brooches in the second photo!
Love them all Karen, well done:-)
