    Hello,
I am new to this website and find it very informative but I am still not certain of the era this piece came from. We no longer have the reciept but think the jewelry store said it was Edwardian.
Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Kari

      Hi,
Absolutely lovely brooch/pendant. Certainly does look Edwardian/French Belle Epoque to me. Fine jewelry of this period with a similar dangle pendant design and milgrain detail was often platinum with diamonds. You should certainly have it tested by a jeweler. Even if it turns out to be silver and paste, this piece would still be valuable.
      Good Luck!

      Hello Kari,
This is a piece from the Edwardian period, about 1900-1910.
      Regards, Bill

Thank you VintageLove and Bill, that's good information.
I am looking to get it appraised and am getting a huge range of prices. Some places charge a one time fee and others charge a fee for every stone, leaving the estimate open ended. I'm not sure what to expect and I don't know if going with the most expensive necessarily means it is more accurate. Any advice? I have a Skinners, Barmakian, Tiffany's jeweler and Shreve's nearby among others.
      Thanks

Hi - You have an absolutely gorgeous brooch. I agree with everyone as to age and materials.
As for appraisers, there is the International Society of Appraisers, phone # 888-472 -4732; they are in Seattle. The other one is the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers in Maryland. Their # is" 301-261-8270. I got these names from an older book by Jeanenne Bell called "How to be a Jewelry Detective.' It's a very informative book, but I wish it had better pictures. I copy I have was printed in 2000, maybe that's why there aren't any website given for these organizations.
      Hope this helps.

Kari, Your brooch is if possible more beautiful than mine placed on this site; http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/2562-edwardian-white-gold-or-silver-diamond-b
But indeed also probably Edwardian. To determine the value of diamonds depending on a lot of things as: clarity, size, brightness, colour so only to manage by a very skilled craftsman. Moreover, the antique value must also counted
