    IronLace
    (928 items)

Here's a luscious cluster of fruity & nutty delights captured in Victorian art glass...assorted cherries, strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, & others. There's a Kralik martele at the front in the first photos, & the rest mostly likely a melange of Bohemian, German, & English specimens.

Lovely collection! I wanted to mention that I have been collecting images of the kinds of vases you show in the last two photos for over a year; I feel that there is a strong possibility that some of these may have been made by Welz...just something to keep in mind. :)

Thanks so much, Michelle...that sounds intriguing research on your part...those clever Welz folks certainly made a bit of everything, didn't they!

Hi Marin, thanks again for you help with identifying the Fish bowl. Your listing of the JWW post had me looking at your stuff again and ones like this are just wonderful. Your mention of the book on Victorian glass got me thinking as I was in Wanganui today and there is a great 2nd hand bookshop I went past that I have got great books on other subjects in the past and I stopped there thinking maybe I should check for books on glass..... 3 books later! Not the Gulliver book but they will provide some good information.

I'm always happy to help out a fellow collector, Bernard...& having just passed my five year anniversary of being on CW, I benefited so much from the knowledge of other folks here that it's only right for me to pay it forward!
That bookshop sounds great, & glad to hear that you had some useful finds there as well. As we know, when you collect glass (or just about anything else) you tend to end up with a collection of books too. :-)
I recall buying the Gulliver book around 2003, when it first came out. Highly recommended if you can find a copy!
