Both made in New York in 1890 this is two oak piano stools. French polished and first one is re-stained in the correct oak tint. The second two photos of the second one is french polished but not in the original stain. I may get around to restaining it, but it's a lot of work. Prized possessions. Eagle glass ball and claw feet, they are in extraordinary condition. Not sure that they are worth much, I just love them.
Beautifully restored piano stools!! I love these.
It looks pristine now, as if it just came from factory, wonderful work on this treasure !~
Gorgeous! I also love how you painted the claws in gold. I have one, too. We fixed it up because the top was cracked in half, but i left it looking weathered as found.
Thank you all. These would be my favourite pieces. I'm always on the lookout for more, but sadly they are getting more difficult to find, in reasonable condition. I did paint the claws gold, I have a suspicion that they would look good in silver, but I'm unaware of how they were finished from the factory and after 128 years, I'm unlikely to ever know, I like the gold :)
BTW I use them as lampstands, they look great with Tiffany lamps.
