Does it say Hines. ?? What is the size of this beautiful cast iron puppy? I have seen a lot of these on the internet but still a cute piece

How cute! But I believe it says HINES and not HIRES :)
Maybe a paperweight?
What you have here is an original Hubley Fido paper weight. It was made as an advertising item for Hines. There are still many of them around but none the less this appears to be an original Hubley.
