Found in an antique shop in McKinney all the research I’ve done leads to an Italian origin. Has anyone seen one like this before?

Very unique and interesting key. Could this be for a piece of furniture, such as a chest of drawers?

I think those keys were used in corner cupboards.

Keys like this were used in safes where the key could be left in the lock of a lockable drawer inside the safe, when the drawer was not in use. To save space the grip folded allowing the safe door to close without hitting a protruding key.
