I bought this bracelet several years ago. I don't know whether to call this a bangle, wrap or cuff bracelet. It is made of metal sections, into which is fitted a green plastic panel. The green plastic does not appear to be bakelite, and seems sturdier than celluloid. They are not chunks of plastic because I can flatten them slightly if I press on them. The bracelet makes a soft rattle noise when it moves, as the plastic is not glued down. I like the zig zag edges of the metal sections. I am guessing it was made in the late 1930's or 1940's, when women wore more "sober" "masculine" clothes, and the jewelry was more playful. Also during the war years they used plastic and inexpensive metals. If anyone else has insight into the time period of this piece, I am always interested to learn more or hear a different opinion. It is unmarked. Thanks for looking!
Lovely bracelet & beautiful green color
Valentino, you are right-- I forgot that gloves were commonly worn back in the day! Good idea. Thanks for the comments and appreciation!
Hi Eileen! huh maybe you are right about the metals. It does look tarnished. Maybe I should try cleaning an area on the underside.
I thought silver at first glance also, good for Eileen to put that word in the mix, I think it is beautiful and very classy !~
Thank you Phil!
