I just cleaned this up-and im shocked how nice it is under all the dust and grim! it took awile-but it looks good! the 1 thing i dont get is ware is the motor? I have a table saw right behind it--same thing! no motor--what up with that! are this old-or just mising something? I know a bit about everything but no motor on 2 tools is very odd! well love to hear about this -any info would be great! thanks
Back in the day, as they say, motors were very expensive so they didn't put one on every machine. people purchased a few motors and 'shared' them between tools, one could also buy used motors. It's just the way it was to save money for home shops.
HELLO'-THANKS for the info--That does make sence--but still makes it seem like alot of work to be switching motors from 1 to the other! and thay would have to be mounted to the bench-or something-to keep tenshion on the belt! very interesting! Thanks again--this was something that I did not know that much about-other then what it is!-I saw the pully under it-so I figured that needed to be turned buy a motor--but why thay both had not 1 motor between the 2 I though was very strange! I will look for the motor-maybe its still around-or with amoter to try it
sorry about that--I hit enter or something and it just listed the comment! all i was saying is maybe the motor is still around-or I can try to get my hands on a newer used 1--to test them out! see how thay really work--Its not that easy to just bolt it to a bench then a motor behind it with a belt--it has to be stright-so the belt aline's right-or it could pop off"- stuff like that--+ what happens when the belt streaches a bit-time to move the moter back!lol:):)-- Thanks have a good night!c/d
Yup we had to work all of that stuff out when we 'hung' a motor, you'd be amazed at some of the 'tricks of the shop', but then again it takes someone my age to remember them LOL
