Can anyone tell me about the company that made these tumblers? They are 14 sided 5 7/8" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter. Marked "American Studio Glass - Prism" on the bottom with a logo of a decanter and wine glass. They are fairly heavy glass. When I Google "American Studio Glass" all I find is information about an artistic movement of the 1960s, "The American Studio Glass Movement" and a couple of other folks trying to find information on this maker. Guessing that the American Studio Glass Movement has nothing to do with the manufacturer of these tumblers, but mention it as some folks point to that movement when asked about this manufacturer. Thanks!
I searched the U.S. Patent Office Trademark database for this trademark. No luck. Sent a query to the librarian at the Corning Museum of Glass. Will see if they can find some information. Tough one, surprisingly.
Well, dang. This is going to be a tough one. The Corning Museum of Glass couldn't come up with much on this manufacturer (you know you are in trouble when....). All they found were several newspaper ads, which at least allows dating this tumbler. It appeared in the ad above: Santa Cruz Sentinel (Santa Cruz, California), Sunday, Oct. 30, 1977, p. 5. Advertisement for Leask's. Assuming Leask's was a department store..
Thanks aura and Jenni! Still not found any more information about the glass maker...
