IronLace
(929 items)
I have posted this vase previously, but I felt it needed another airing following a new photo shoot. I have owned it for about 12 years.
Made from translucent satin glass with rainbow stripes in orange, mauve, & chartreuse, it has white Peloton threads (completely blended in), an applied rigaree in clear glass, & an applied foot in pale green that contains uranium & glows under UV light.
It measures a most impressive 34 cm tall, 11.5 cm across the jack - in - the - pulpit shaped top rim, & 9.5 cm across the footed base.
I feel that it most likely dates from late Victorian to Art Nouveau era, & is most likely Bohemian in origin.
Any thoughts on a manufacturer would be welcomed...I have not seen another piece of Peloton glass quite like it.
Quite beautiful IronLace! Great size too!
Thanks so much, Justanovice! Yes, it is large for Peloton glass, most pieces are relatively small so it was a rare find...
The size, satin glass with peloton isn't so frequent,I guess, interesting mix of colours and this funny rim = it's outstanding!
Amazingly BEAUTIFUL vase!

Agree BEAUTIFUL. I don't think I've seen a JIP Peloton before and with such unusual colours.
Thanks so much, Ivonne!
Thanks also, scott!
Thank you most kindly, Vintagefran...yes, it is indeed something else. Buying it was a big hassle but all worth it in the end to get something so unusual...
The colours are just wonderful, modern. It's like a threadworm rave!!
That is the funniest metaphor I've ever heard! If I was in a band, "Threadworm Rave" would have to be the title of our next album! :-)
Peloton par excellence!
Many thanks, sklo42...I wish I could give credit to the maker...they did a fantastic job with this piece!
Vermicular shindig is another way of saying threadworm rave! :-)
