This is a fine example of Autumnal Ware type art glass, gifted to me by a very special CW member - the marvelous MALKEY!
What a pleasant suprise it was this morning to find a mystery parcel on my doorstep...so exciting to unwrap, & reveal this gorgeous piece of Victorian glass that fits so perfectly in my collection.
It is made from opaque ivory coloured glass, which contains uranium & glows intensely under UV light. The jug shaped vase measures around 11.5 cm tall, 12.5 cm across the double crimped, four way top rim, & 8.5 cm across the base, which has a neatly polished out pontil mark. There is an applied acanthus leaf in amber & pink, with the stem forming a handle. An applied amber crest finishes off the top rim to perfection.
Pretty sure this one is of Stourbridge origin.
Thanks again, MALKEY, you are a champion among collectors & people in general.
A beauty indeed!
Absolutely, sklo42! I was so happy when I unwrapped it...isn't collecting the best fun? You can meet such wonderful folks, full of passion for glass & generosity to share it around.
What a good man our Malkey is. He's gifted you a beauty, and I'm sure it's in safe and appropriate hands.
He is a legend! Indeed this vase has gone from one loving home to another. And he is getting a surprise gift from me in return...
That is so sweet! What a lovely thing to do! It will be right at home with your other beautiful glass!
So true, Michelle! A wonderful gesture from a special person...much appreciated!
