Here's another 'souvenir' item from my New York City 'daytrip' a dozen yrs ago. Before needing to go get in line at the Ed Sullivan Theatre [around 3:30PM for ~5PM actual Late Show taping, IIRC] there was time for my accompanying friend (partner/guide/source of invaluable 'how to do things in Manhattan' advice for the whole adventure, he lives on the upper east side, but I'd never been there...? <eeek>) and I to also visit ROCKEFELLER CENTER, and take the **INCREDIBLY FUN** express elevator ride to the TOP OF THE ROCK Observation Deck.
https://www.rockefellercenter.com/attractions/top-of-the-rock-observation-deck/
The view was, as expected, very much worth the admission price -- and that elevator, quite unexpectedly, had a glass ceiling which took full advantage of a very tall (but surprisingly rapidly traversed) and otherwise perfectly dark elevator shaft, to display a completely fascinating "light show" (w/music accompaniment?) effect created mostly by assorted types/colors of (stationary, though their operation was animated to follow our ascent?) light sources mounted to the insides of the elevator shaft walls, which took on a whole entire "motion" of their own as we whizzed upwards by/thru them, everybody standing gaping with heads bent backwards staring up... <lol>
This little chrome keychain was purchased there. A perfectly appropriate 'Art-Deco' styled TOP OF THE ROCK name and building profile logo on its front, "TM & (c) Top of the Rock 2006" on the back.
Great keychain, and very interesting experience in the Rockefeller Center elevator. As a native NYer I have been to Rockefeller Center to see Christmas shows & dine overlooking the skating rink, but there is so much that is grand in NYC that we who live nearby take for granted & miss out on
Thanks SO MUCH for the gracious comment Newfld -- I kinda actually understand...my friend/guide has lived in NYC all his life, but hadn't ever taken the trip to the TOTR either -- he was as impressed/surprised as I was, I think?! <lol> I wish there would have been more time (another day, another week...?) to also visit the SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE studios, or other RockCenter landmarks AT LEAST...? <groan><headdesk>
THANKS for stopping by and tapping the <love it> button to Newfld, fortapache, Caperkid, buckethead, jscott0363, and Brunswick !! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
I know that we are not supposed to ask to buy or sell. I have been trying to track down this keychain for 2 years now and the only place i have seen it is on this page.
Is there any chance you know of a place to buy it. I live in NY and have been to rockfeller center many times to try and buy.
thanks
I expect you've been here before:
