I have no idea what this is, but it appears to have a missing thermometer. It has a hinged brass panel which allows people to read the thermometers in Fahrenheit, Celsius and ?? [romears?]? any info about purpose, age or anything appreciated!

Reaumur scale was a French scale dating to around 1790. By mid 1800's it had fallen out of general use. Today it is still used in a few places for checking temperatures making cheese.

What a superb piece! If I were you I would look into whether there is a custom thermometer mfgr. who can make a thermometer to the size dictated by the plate's design and have one made.
