I'm trying to find out anything I can about this cute wee elephant given to me by my Mum many years ago. I don't know where, when, or by whom it was made. It has small chips which expose what seems to be wood under the black outer surface. The only marking it has is 'RGD' on the back of the rear left leg. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there. This could be hand carved from Ebony wood. From what I've always been told, you can tell where an elephant is from their ear shape. The larger shape like this one is would appear to be an African elephant. The smaller ear elephants are from Asia, or so I've been told!
