This is a rare piece of memorabilia from David Bowie's first ever tour of Australia in 1978 - 40 years ago this year. Sadly I was too young at the time to attend this concert, but I did get to see him on two of the other tours he did of Australia - in 1987, & 2004 which was his last tour ever before retiring from the stage.
I got this on eBay recently.

Nice, 87 was the Serious Moonlight tour ? I was a very jaded 16 or 17, and did not want to see any of the "old Timers" Not that I had the money them as we were dirt poor, and lived in the middle of nowhere. I did get enough enough change from an old washing machine to go see the Kinks a year or two earlier. i loved New Wave/ Punk stuff, but it was so rare here. Trouser Press take me away. I think I have rambled enough.

Many thanks for your rambles, rockbat. The '87 tour was Glass Spider. Serious Moonlight was '83 - I was still a bit young then as well but already a fan. I liked a lot of different music- new wave, new romantic, alternative, goth, pop, rock...& from all eras. I probably got more into 70s music as the 80s wore on...

Wonderful find!! I've always been a big David Bowie fan, but never had the pleasure of seeing him perform live.

Please post more. Show us some of your books. Name a couple poets, maybe. Show some more art. I never really like Midnight oil, but I love The Split Enz.

Thanks so much, jscott363! I feel very fortunate to have seen him twice. An amazing performer & an inspiration to creative people everywhere!

Thanks also, iggy! Wow, you were lucky to see him with Tin Machine, that would have been a great show. I got the two Tin Machine albums at the time, they really rocked hard.

I will definitely be posting more of all kinds of things, rockbat - watch this space!
I did like Split Enz a lot, but not so much of a fan of Midnight Oil myself either, which was a challenge because most of the people at my school liked them. My music tastes were rather Anglophile, & many of the bands/artists I was into were from the UK. However, on the US side of things I always liked Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, The Pixies.
