    Can anybody help with the age of this item.i believe it is antique silver.magnet does not stick and the testing solution turned red

      Vesta cases which are silver are almost always marked on the inside edge, where the top sits when closed.

      Heavy silver plating will also turn red in an acid test. Not sticking to a magnet only means that no nickel was used to make the vesta case. Nothing to do with it possibly being silver.
