    (3 items)

I acquired these from a thrift store in a bag of jewelry. The more I looked at them the more they intrigued me. They are stamped with two different marks. The one stamp is 800. Which usually means silver- but when testing it is gold. did little research and found out that Portugal uses 800 of fineness in Gold signification is that it is 19.2 carat. The second stamp I just can't see even with loupe. :( my eyes are shot. Any how I'm trying to find out any information about these earrings - years? maker? any kind of information would be just wonderful . . THANKS ahead of time for any answers.

    UPDATE:
I've taken a couple more photos and added them to this< last three are new- there are three different marks on them. the one looks as if it says :Cor . /Coro <could this be one of their first things made in late 1800's or early 1900's <or sometime around that time period?> .. or maybe Car <doubt it < then on the other earring - I can make out < I think> either 40- or NO. 14K and can't tell symbol at all after the K. Now I'm seeing either 800 or it's a 900 on the other mark. < MY camera/ and phone camera both suck at getting micro shots.
:( ... Any suggestions on who I should take it too to maybe get appraised if worth getting one?

Many of these carved cameo lava antique earrings on the auction market. Your's seems to have been modified from a 2 piece earring with a dangle part, to a carnelian? stone on gold twisted wire decoration inserted in the bottom loop. I think gold plated 800 silver, with a cartouche for an Italian assay office. Very interesting pieces. :-)

I don't see lava cameo... rather a kind of metal medal from a coin design (not a coin as reverse is blank).
I'd think too gilded silver. Which part did you tested? perhaps the wire holding the carnelian beads is gold...
      Very interesting :-)

Made in Italy after 1968. In the cartouche: star, number, two capital letters indicating Italian province where the maker is registered.
      800 fineness for gilded silver.
If you show us better close up of the marks or tell us what you see we could identify the maker.

Hi IVAN49, I can't believe how fast the years are going by. I swear it seems that I created this post just last year- then I had to move - a new job, etc.. I'm sorry I didn't respond to your findings on the marks sooner. THANK YOU very much !! for the information. In a few days, I have some other items that I'm hoping to find out more information about. < another challenge for you :) > thank you again!

I still can not read the marks, it is hard with photos of such small details. Next time try to take the photo through a magnifying glass or lop (don't know if that is the right word in english?) that some of us have tryed here. Sometimes it works. But for now it seems like if Ivan49 has given you an answer you feel confident with so you can change the titel and mark this as solved? Just from the design I also thought these were vintage revival rather than antique so I go for Ivan being right :) Enjoy your earrings and Thanks for sharing your post.
