My mother gave this doll to me in 1985. I had never seen it until that day. She said it belonged to her step sister who was deceased. The doll has original clothes, hair, and has little damage. I am intrested in any info about this doll.. Her name is Ruth, and there is a 2/o on the back of her neck.. No other marks are found. I was told by a doll collector in our area that the doll sould be protected from dust, light, and gas heat. A gentleman made the case and table on which it sets. I guess there are several Ruth dolls(from the responses I got) however none of these responses where referring to the doll I have) Her height is 23 inches.. She has a kid body and is sort of a sawdust substance below the knees. She has her original socks.. I have more pictures of her body if anyone is interested..

Your doll is attributed to German doll maker Armand Marseille . Her kid leather body would be stuffed with sawdust and human hair . The Bisque head can be washed . Carefully with a damp cloth just don't scratch it . Lovely piece of history and a nice story on how you acquired her . Oh and the dust and light is more to protect her clothes from fading . She is wearing a pretty vintage and age appropriate dress :-) Thanks for sharing
