NOT "OLD" AT ALL, this was found at a thrift store a few years ago. I don't know if it was previously snagged from our local EMBASSY SUITES Hotel (which hadn't been open for more than a few yrs when I got this ashtray, and which to this day I don't think I have ever set foot inside) or another one someplace else. I also don't know if similar ashtrays are still found in EMBASSY SUITES Hotels (in guest rooms, public areas, or wherever) when it has seemingly otherwise become so much more trendy for overly expen$ive hotel$ to be actively *hostile* (vs. "hospitable", that is) towards those of us that still happen to be smokers. [for whatever reasons...spare me the sermon please, I'm very well aware of it all and DON'T CARE...the cheap motels out by the freeway never seem to have a problem with it...?? /rant off]
But anyway. It is about 1-3/4" tall and 5-3/4" across and there are no marks on it beyond the goldtone hotel name. I'm pretty certain this is still a commonly produced and available pattern of ashtray (whether with or without anybody's particular name/logo affixed) no matter who really made it.
It's a really nice glass ashtray & like the hotel logo, from a non smoker whose parents were smokers so no sermons!
Thank you so very kindly Newfld -- I do get *so* tired of being treated like a 2nd class citizen nowadays, often being shoved outside to the curb (despite the weather, etc) or worse, just to "enjoy" (yes, yes, I know...) what still remains my absolute personal right to use an also perfectly legal product -- no matter how "good for me" (or not) it might be... <grrr>
Thanks much also going to jscott0363, Brunswick, fortapache, and buckethead for stopping by and tapping the <love it> button!
For the record, my "theory" just proved itself again, while trying to find a hotel room for an impending work trip to south Florida. After nearly an hour on the phone calling around, all the "nice hotels" downtown smugly say "NO, we don't want your money" -- but the Super8 out by the freeway will be more than happy to 'leave a light on for me'. Go figure... <sigh>
