Old Flamex butane lighter

I found this lighter, took a couple minutes to figure out how to light it, etc. Tinkered a bit and figured out. How to add flint as it needed one, and fluid as well. I'd never seen one like this other than in old movies and the only identifying marks are the words Flamex and Japan on the bottom. What's strangest to me is the flame comes out the side instead of the top, and the top is stationary with no flip top function. I can't find any info on this specific lighter so any insight or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
