For my 100th posting I though I would put on one of my nicer pieces in my collection. This is a signed Paul Klee I have had for quite a few years. I picked this up with several other fine art pieces and etchings, I may post some of those in the near future.
Paul Klee was a Swiss born, of German descent, born in 1879 and died in 1940.
His training as a painter began in 1898, studying in Munich for three years. His art was influenced by the Cubism of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, and the abstract translucent color planes of Robert Delaunay.
This piece is called the Park, marked 1914 and #145. It is pencil signed in lower right. It is somewhat discolored by the old matte and tape that was used in it's framing. I took this to a big city Art Museum to be authenticated, I knew someone with connections to get me in. I also took several other pieces.
The Museum director confirmed the signature as Klee's but could not confirm if it was his or what they call an after Klee. I will someday get it looked at by one of the bigger auction houses, but I am not getting rid of this for some time if ever.
Hope you enjoy and Thanks for looking
